Tajikistan. Iskanderkul.

2008-06-15 | Askar Isabekov

High mountain lake Isakanderkul places not far from Dushanbe but the road is difficult now. On spring and autumn time Iskanderkul as one of the rare large lakes used by the migrated birds as rest place. Now I don't see any bird on the water table. In the poplar forest I saw only Carrion Crow looked very large. A lot of Masked Wagtails on the coast. It is necessary to note Bar-tailed Treecreepers. They are common birds but Treecreepers more hearable than visible. Once I saw Yellow-breasted Tit and once Roller on the slope. It's uncommon to meet Roller in the high mountain. On the bushes some times I met Black Redstart and on spring one Blue Whistling Thrush. Sometimes on the rock slopes the flocks of Red-billed Choughes were observed. [...... read more ]

The short trip to the nest of Blue Whistling Thrush. Today I spied nestlings. Only after one week they capped not by fluff but by feathers. Adult Thrushes were more wild than last visit. I counted four chicks. Except Whistling Thrushes I saw also Orioles, one Kestrel, Masked Wagtails. [...... read more ]

Tajikistan. Romit gorge.

2008-06-01 | Askar Isabekov

Today I got up on Romit gorge. Birds were a little. Somehow there were a little Dippers. All day I saw one only Brown Dipper and heard one. Even Grey Wagtails were a little. Most visible today birds were Masked Wagtails and Spotted Flycatches. Other birds were several Carrion Crows, one Hobby and one Common Sandpiper (on dry mountains!), one Eversmann's Redstart, one Blackbird, Red-rumped Swallows. I heard but didn't see Nightingales and Orioles. On unmoving sitting I saw also wild Oriental Turtle Doves. Three times I saw Blue Whistling Thrushes. Whistling Thrushes of Pamir are more wild that ones in Almaty. Nothing allowed to close them. But today I first time saw the nest of Blue Whitling Thrush. The location of the nest is classical, on the rock above the streams of mountain river. From time to time Thrushes flew to the nest and fed chicks. Chicks (the number of them was very difficult to count yet by binocular, probably 3-4 chicks) capped by bluish purple fluff. [...... read more ]
