Today I with Raufael Bairashev made trip to Ile valley in Kapchagay area. During all time we saw many Black Kites both in flocks of about 30 birds and singles. Twice we saw flocks of Demoiselle Cranes. There are a lot of Coots, Crested Grebes in the small lakes; we saw Common Pochards and one Eurasian Bittern too. On the roadsides we noticed one Hoopoe, one Black Redstart, dozens of Pied Wheatears, one Isabelline Wheatear, Chaffinches, Azure Tits, Great Tits, one Corn Bunting, one Stonechat, Turkestan Shrike, Isabelline Shrike, Water Pipit, Tree Pipit, and a lot of Rooks, Jackdaws, Carrion Crows. On one meadow we observed the large mixed flock of different Wagtails. There were White, Masked, Yellow, Citrine and Black-headed Wagtails.

2. Isabelline Shrike (Lanius isabellinus isabellinus)

Aktau, Mangystau region

A rare passage species in Kazakhstan. The most recent photographic record in the country was made on 21 April 2022 in the Suzak District of Turkestan Region (Martin Grienenberger; see the website gallery). In Mangystau Region, only two records supported by photographic evidence are known from recent decades of the 21st century: 20–24 May 2009 in the Kenderli area (Neve et al., 2010) and the present observation.
