Almaty-Bakanas.

Itzhon Plateau. The road between Kapchagai and Malay-Sary. In the rare roadside asian elm thickets I saw Lesser Whitethroats, Hume's Warbler, Syke's Warblers, Lesser Grey Shrikes. The Stonechats and Red-backed Shrikes I saw two weeks ago already left this area. On the road till Malay-Sary ridge I saw four nests of Long-legged Buzzards. Apparently the nests were with nestlings because when I coming to the nests the adult Buzzards flew off and began soaring over me with cry. Once the same action was made by the Carrion Crow, I observed the Crow's nest and found four large nestlings. In the shadow of lower branches of asian elms sometimes Turtle Doves were noticed, twice I saw Oriental Turtle Doves and once European Turtle Dove. Also I saw one Cuckoo, one Spotted Flycatcher, a lot of singing Red-headed Buntings.

All the time the Rosy Starlings and the Rooks occurred in a wide number. The trees were a bit, therefore both Rooks and Rosy Starlings perched in branches very close, cuddling up together. Once Black Kite rested on the tree with Rooks together. But I spotted this fact only when birds flew off.

In the clay coomb the Rollers, Jackdaws, Common Kestrels, Blyth's Reed Warbler nest. Now the pair of Pied Wheatears began to breed too. Male Pied Wheatear wanted to please to female. I don't know is it breeding dance or any other action, but male was flying to female, curving the back, opening the tail and jolting it. Female only was watching to the male's dance. Blyth's Warbler were bringing the little sticks to the nest. Also in this coomb I saw the pair of Rock Sparrow.

Malay-Sary ridge. Time and again Isabelline Wheatears and Tawny Pipit were noticed. On the Sasyk well I saw Red-headed Bunting, Little Ringed Plover, Hoopoes (probably have nest in well), Crested Larks, Grey Wagtail, and also Barn Swallow bringing in the bills the mud to the nest building. It's very possible that nest was built in the well.

Aktau, Mangystau region

A rare passage species in Kazakhstan. The most recent photographic record in the country was made on 21 April 2022 in the Suzak District of Turkestan Region (Martin Grienenberger; see the website gallery). In Mangystau Region, only two records supported by photographic evidence are known from recent decades of the 21st century: 20–24 May 2009 in the Kenderli area (Neve et al., 2010) and the present observation.
